I was just telling my creative strategist friend Jey Van Sharp the other day how we really need more classic americana brands. With so much influence from Japan, Italy and elsewhere, its good to see a menswear brand not afraid to stay true to the American aesthetic. That brand is Michael Bastian. Paying homage to James Dean, (a classic american menswear muse/idol/guycrush) the collection took the position of “dressing him as if he never died”.
The collection had pops of color (love the fire engine red), color blocking, short shorts, denim, amazing suiting and some formal wear ready for that daring young man or that young James Dean type. Fresh.
