Marlon Gobel’s F/W 2012 collection was simply amazing. With a heist theme, the collection was all about enemy meets egocentric. When designers go super avant garde for menswear, one worries if they will be fit properly. Not a problem here. The collection was well tailored. Gobel, who’s been compared to a modern Thom Browne isn’t afraid to try new things with menswear. Coming off a season of printed fruit blazers, Marlon Gobel chose to stay with a plaid story this season. Whether it was big check plaids or fine stripe, plaid was a mainstay. Gobel also added a “safety vest” reminiscent of a Ninja turtle shell. By the smiling faces coming down the steps at the end of this runway, Gobel is here to stay.
