When I was a kid, I was all for halloween costumes. Not only would I wear the mask and full ensemble, but I even found myself making my own costumes. One year I let some friends know that I was going to be someone who was beat up in the L.A. riots. To my chagrin, folks in the neighborhood had stolen my costume idea and done a half-assed job. Since then, getting ready for Halloween has never been the same and I’ve always vowed that I won’t dress it up unless I can execute the costume.
But with time running out and the holiday just around the corner, I’ve begun exploring costumes that don’t require three hours of hair and makeup. Below, are some halloween costumes you can make out of pieces you may already own.
Homer Simpson rocks a pretty easy look emulate. Rock a white polo, light blue chinos and black shoes of any kind and you can pull off the patriarch of the longest running sitcom. Get an empty beer bottle and wrap a DUFF label on it to complete the look.
Chalky White is one of my favorite characters on TV. Besides his fashion, he’s one bad ass. You can emulate his style by rocking some sort of plaid or patterned car coat over a three piece suit. Top it off with a bowtie and colored pocket square for a winning look.
The likelihood of you looking like your favorite athlete is slim to none. However, you can wear your favorite jersey and be the sports fan you really are.
