Often when designers take on diffusion or guest spotting at brands, they often tend to forget the true aesthetic of the brand and just give the brand they are designing for left overs from their main brand. Not the case with Gant by Michael Bastian. The brand is total americana and heritage. The collection is 80’s prep school meets NEW ENGLAND young gentleman. Gant has always been known for its prep-school look. Michael Bastian just pumped it up a notch. Most notably, the colored pigment dyed poplin pants, the piano keys scarf, the layering of striped knits and plaid woven tops, the muted neon colors that pop in vest, anoraks and scarfs. The collection was well styled and merchandised and definitely will breathe new life into the brand.
