NYFW has begun and the menswear collections are underway. Perry Ellis is one of the last few iconic brands we have left. They hold a special place in my heart because when I first started this site many years ago, they were on the first brands to reach out to me. I’ve seen their growth and struggles and after a few years of the Duckie Brown collaboration, I wondered where they might go next.
Fresh Photos of the Runway Show
This season was the debut collection from new creative director Michael Maccari. Maccari was the fashion director at A/X for over a decade and brought a youthfulness to the brand that it really needed. The collection itself was amazing. By far one of my favorites of the season thus far. Not afraid to push envelope with items like cropped windbreaker jackets and geometric printed suits, but at the same time keeping the brand neo-traditional with the usual grey, creme and maroon color schemes, this cohesive offering made me smile about Perry Ellis again.
