Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams” was one of the first songs that I heard of her dual personality discs “I Am..Sasha Fierce”. I immediately fell in love with the song. Produced by “Polow Da Don”, this song is a departure from the music I’ve heard from her in the past, the bass line is awesome and her vocals are beautifully layered throughout the song. Yet, we still hear the rawness and street edge in her voice, that her fans have grown to love and that has ultimately become part of her signature sound. When I heard she’s working on a video for this song, I was excited, because I hoped that the video would be just like what the song was for me “a departure from the things I’ve seen her do in the past”
I couldn’t have been more wrong.
The same elements of her videos are present. Her hair isn’t done, Her clothing looks cheap. The same two dancers dancing behind her (this time she opts for an Ashanti look alike and a girl who didn’t have enough time to get tracks sewn in). The video also looks cheap and like it was filmed in the amount of the time that you took to read this entry. At last.. she ends the video with her rendition of an Patty Mayonnaise or Etta James robot, inspiring girls everywhere to start rocking finger-waves… I couldn’t be more thrilled (*sarcasm*)
Oh well, maybe my standards are way too high for Beyonce. I only expect the best from someone who is being called the “entertainer of our era”. I thought she could have played more with the concept of dreams and nightmares, good vs evil, and that she didnt need to have random backup girls. I mean, if she does, why not just stay in Destiny’s Child?
But I’ve said enough, check out the video below and let us at FresherThanChris know if this video is fresh or a mess?

I quite agree with you on all of this. Thanx for keeping it real. I had such high hopes for B and the vid for this song. but she dissapoints, yet again…and this song is actually a banger! Aww poor B. she’ll get it right one day.
one of these days she’s gonna have to find some other way to hold people’s attention besides just being hot. ok we get it…you’re beautiful, you can dance now what else you got? this song had the potential to be a great video…very disappointing!!

I totally agree with you Chris. It was poorly put together, same treatment used consistently since her “Single Ladies” video and it was rushed. oh ok, you put some pastel and gold colors in the video…it still doesn’t sell the song. I personally like Beyonce, but I really think its time for her to rest for about 2-3 years and come back refreshed, excited, and renewed. Beyonce, relax and have a couple of grand kids for Tina and Matthew Knowles.
i happened to catch the video this morning actually… her floating in the bed caught my eye, song was str8, but then all of a sudden she was rolling around and dancing like she was in a p-popping contest.. more metallic for the sake of metallic, just cant deal with her anymore, she needs a new coreographer BAD
She could have done more with the video. Put a contest out fot the treatment. I love Beyonce and I think she is BADDDDD.. Have you seen her in concert? My God. But, it is what it is and this video just ISN’T.
WOW that was CRAZY DISAPPOINTING!!! i genuinely liked that song but now that it has its video treatment i kind of can’t stand it anymore… God this girl is boring as hell!
must agree…the whole dance with two girls in the background is played out for her. Get a video with a concept..a theme. try to do a video with NO dancing…push the visual artistic boundaries…I dunno. Do something different
ugggggggh. the worst one yet. the styling is crazy. the dancing is crazy. the special effects make it look like it was a high school video project. it can’t get much worse..although i know she’ll somehow prove me wrong.
Why oh why can’t this girl stay away from the leotards????? And her rendition of the wu-tang….absolute hilarity!
I am not gonna lie in the beginning i was into the video the only part i liked was the robot scene…but B def gotta start coming harder…
